| Our precious little critters have been in the news recently! Water voles have suffered the most dramatic decline of any British mammal in the last century. Apparantly they are making a bit of a come back. Did you see them on Look North? What is your experience of them on the Lofthouse Colliery site? Come on Outwood Community Video Group surely you can come up with a photo shot for this website! Gauntlet thrown! Tony have you received this challenge on behalf of your group? |

Thursday 7th February. 5:25pm
Whilst out walking this evening just as it became dusk, I caught sight of a small furry creature swimming across the pond, and lo and behold it was the first sighting for me of a water vole this year. Hopefully it'll be the first of many as I am down at the pond daily. I also saw that the bats are out and about again!
Must be the mild spell we are having. It was excellant to see all the wildlife coming 'back to life' so to speak, after the winter.Lets hope the weather isn't lulling us all into a false sense of security, like last year! |
