Our Projects Campaign Against Housing - Playing Fields & Surrounding Areas - Ongoing! Pond Improvements & Rest/Relaxation Areas with level access to the Playing Fields - First phase completed! Summary of project: The breathing place is on a balancing pond, within the nature area of Lofthouse Colliery Park and the aims are to improve and enhance the pond to benefit the local community and improve the surroundings for wildlife. Activities are to include enlargement of the pond, add rocks and create a feature island in the middle with vegetation to be planted. Bullrushes will be removed as they diminish water supply, and appropriate reeds and other flora will be planted to provide varied habitats for wildlife. Cleaning Up The Neighbourhood (anti-social behaviour & litter) & Maintaining Our Park (path networks, seating, scrub clearance & tree planting) - Ongoing! Pit Winding Wheel & Community Garden/Pocket Nature Park - Ridings Way/Colliery Approach - Finished! Heritage Gateway - Alum Works Road/Chandlers Close - & non motorised commuter route to Outwood Train Station - Await WMDC plans! Nature Gateway - Lingwell Nook Lane - Funding required! Improved Access - Railway Terrace/Lingwell Gate Lane - Await WMDC plans! Improved Play Spaces - Funding required!
